This course is for practitioners new to the EYFS working with 3 and 4 year olds who would like to develop their knowledge of supporting phonics and early reading through the use of the Letters and Sounds programme. This course will explore the importance of phonics in supporting young children’s language and communication skills and in enhancing emerging reading skills through the seven aspects of Phase one of the Letters and Sounds programme. This will be explored through practical activities and discussion time to share ideas. We will be exploring the key features of a language rich environment and the role of the adult in supporting all children to enjoy a lifelong love of language. Through each aspect we will look at practical activity ideas as well as experiences to support home learning and parental engagement in early reading.

This woman’s leadership development programme seeks to address the under representation of women in management roles within the council through a women’s only programme which builds confidence, informal networks and develops an understanding of women as future leaders. This inspiring and engaging programme is for existing female managers who wish to progress in their careers or aspiring managers and leaders.
