This course is aimed at Committee Chairs and managers to help you with the whole process from recruitment to induction. “Providers must ensure that all staff receive induction training to help them understand their roles and responsibilities. Induction training must include: information about emergency evacuation procedures, safeguarding, child protection, the provider’s equality policy, and health and safety issues….” EYFS Statutory Framework (page 20, 3.20) Does recruitment seem a daunting task for your setting? Why is it so important for settings to get this right from the start? This course is ideal for committee chairs and managers wanting to understand the recruitment process or refresh their current knowledge. Effective leadership in early years has been recognised as being significant in raising standards and outcomes for children. This is a stand-alone course which is one of 5 leadership and management courses offered across the year. Together they will provide valuable support to Committee Chairs and managers. In addition, supporting materials are available online to further supplement knowledge and understanding. The tasks offered throughout the course will be practical in nature and are designed to support your practice in the setting.

Code: SGC/17/290 Understanding Autistic Spectrum Conditions - Level 1 Awareness (Morning)

This half day course provides a comprehensive introduction to the autism spectrum. Recognising and understanding the key areas of difficulty experienced by individuals on the autism spectrum is vital to providing effective support. This course is aimed at staff working in agencies in the Statutory, Voluntary and Independent sector in South Gloucestershire who are directly or indirectly supporting individuals with autism and people who come into contact with adults with autism in their work. This course is delivered by The National Autistic Society and will be made up of tutor presentation, audio visual material, 'real life' example, discussion, group exercises and question and answer.
