This half day workshop is aimed at adult social care staff in South Gloucestershire, working in domiciliary, residential and day care services (statutory sector AND IVP sector agencies) The course includes trainer presentation, discussion, and a short multiple-choice assessment at the end to check the information has been retained by participants. Relevant handouts/paperwork will be provided by the facilitator Claire Boyd, North Bristol Trust. Please note this training is held at Southmead Hospital (Learning & Research building in the Science Quarter).

Code: SGC/18/580 Council Incident Room Training – Stage 2 – loggist and telephony

The Council Incident Room co-ordinates requests for council resources, (people and materials) that are needed to respond to a major incident, as well as gathering information. It is established for large scale incidents where the public are being adversely effected. The main incident room is at Badminton Road Offices in room 2009. Aim of this stage of training: • To provide staff with an overview of the council incident room (CIR) Objectives: • Outline the loggist role within the CIR • Outline the telephonist role within the CIR • Give staff the chance to practice both roles Only council staff from the emergency planning new volunteer list, who have manager permission to take part.

Code: SGC/18/131 How to Promote Creativity using the Media of Paint (£) (Cancelled)

This course is for all early years practitioners who would like to reflect on how their setting promotes creativity and their use of paint. If you lack confidence in your creative skills, then this course is for you. We will explore: • Our understanding of creativity and how easy it is for us as adults to stifle children’s creativity • Different ways of presenting paint to children in both inside and outside environments • How we inform parents of the need for children to have opportunities to create This course will use a mixture of discussion, video and practical activities that will leave you motivated, excited and confident to try new ways of using paint. Participants should be aware that we will be using paint and they may get messy.
