Code: SGC/17/619 Education Conference for Foster Carers, Connected Carers, Special Guardians, Adopters and Designated Teachers

This year’s Education Conference will begin with two teachers talking about the Attachment Awareness Programmes that they have been working on in their schools, one Primary and one Secondary. Sarah Bevis, from Parkwall Primary School, will look at what interventions are in place to support vulnerable pupils and Ellen Tomkies, from Patchway Community College, is looking at how they are adapting the ‘Ready to Learn’ approach. We will then have Sue Lewis coming to talk to us about ‘Careerpilot’. This is an amazing website that will hopefully really help our young people in making informed choices about their future. The site can help them to identify the skills they have, and from this, what courses/jobs may suite them. If you have smart phones/tablets, bring these along as I believe we will be having a play with what the site can actually offer and how to navigate it. It is hoped that a young person may also come and talk to us about how they have found it. Following a break there will then be a workshop that will take us to lunch and another workshop in the afternoon. You will need to choose which workshops you would like to attend. Please select one workshop from the morning session and one from the afternoon session. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Please could you add your choices when making your booking request? Finally if you have any dietary requirements could you please indicate this at your time of booking, thank you.
