Code: SGC/17/1315 Defensible Decision-Making

This 1-day workshop is for South Gloucestershire Council Adult Care practitioners ONLY. Its key purpose is to equip staff with the knowledge, skills and confidence to make judgements and clearly record the rationale for decisions that are robust, supported by the relevant evidence and defensible when scrutinised by others. Practitioners need to assess people’s needs and their desired outcomes and then make decisions that keep that person and their carers at the heart of the assessment and support planning process. In all aspects of their work they have to find ways to balance a number of competing pressures including arranging person-centred care and support that meets Care Act and Mental Capacity Act requirements, whilst also managing risk and safeguarding issues effectively, using the organisation’s recording policy and using resources effectively.

Code: SGC/18/604 Making Every Contact Count (2 sessions). (ADULT SOCIAL CARE ONLY) (Cancelled)

A two session training course-Making Every Contact Count is an approach that uses the millions of day to day interactions that organisations and individuals have with people to support them in making positive changes to their physical and mental health and wellbeing. Rather than telling people what to do Making Every Contact Count is about recognising opportunities to talk to people about their wellbeing using the skills of asking and listening. Making Every Contact Count is not intended to add to busy workloads. The course uses case studies relating to Childhood Poverty and signposts to appropriate VSCE organisations and their available training.
