This practical course is for people who have an interest in communication, who would like to know about Makaton and learn the signs and symbols for stages 1, 2, 3 and 4. “Being able to communicate is one of the most important skills we need in life. Makaton uses signs, symbols and speech to help people communicate. Makaton is extremely flexible as it can be personalised to an individual's needs and used at a level suitable for them.” www.makaton.org The Makaton beginner’s workshop consists of four modules. You will learn Makaton signs and symbols for stages 1 – 4. You will receive a certificate of attendance and booklet which includes signs and symbols when you have attended all sessions. Once completed you can attend Makaton Networks for continuing professional development, sharing ideas, strategies, signs and symbols. No previous experience of Makaton is required to attend this course. Please bring a packed lunch as no lunches will be provided.
