Code: SGC/20/272 Baby Room Network (cf)

This network is for experienced Baby Room Practitioners who would like an opportunity to develop their knowledge and practice through networking.

How do you meet the unique needs of babies in your setting? These networks are aimed at experienced practitioners and room leaders who would like opportunities to: reflect, extend their thinking, share experiences and gain new ideas for developing practice. A supportive peer to peer environment will be facilitated to encourage delegates to gain the benefits of networking.

“We not only respect babies, we demonstrate our respect every time we interact with them. Respecting a child means treating even the youngest infant as a unique human being.” (Magda Gerber)

As a network we aim to be responsive to the needs of the group and will use delegate feedback alongside current research to provide the focus for each session.

Code: SGC/19/1221 Motivational Interviewing: Refresh and Practice Development (a.m.)

An interactive 3-hour workshop facilitated by Phil Harris to enable adult care practitioners who completed the initial 1-day Motivational Interviewing course to refresh their knowledge, skills and confidence and to help them consolidate their learning with this approach.

Participants are expected to bring an example of how they have used a Motivational Interviewing approach since the initial training course.

This follow-up course will give participants an opportunity to review their prior learning and how they have applied these approaches in context of the 3 C’s model. This will include reflective practice and bringing a case study to the session based on the Motivational Interviewing Case Formulation supplied at the end of the one day training. Based on this we will identify further areas of development and rehearse the critical skills in a peer-review context.
