Code: SGC/20/061 Advanced Inter Agency Child Protection (EVENT FULL)

This one day training course is organised by South Gloucestershire Safeguarding Children Board Training Group and is targeted at all staff from all agencies who are working directly with children, or adults who are parents. Effective child protection depends not only on reliable and accepted procedures for all staff involved with children, but also on their skills, knowledge and judgement and the ability to work together co-operatively. Staff with lead roles in child protection require specialised training in order to carry out their work with abused children and families. Please note it is recommended to leave a minimum of 3 months between attending Inter Agency Child Protection and Advanced Inter Agency Child Protection.

Code: SGC/20/413 Coaching Skills

The Council promotes the use of a "Coaching style" of management, which empowers staff to take responsibility for their own performance and work. The ability of managers to coach the performance and development of their staff is therefore considered a key skill. The time invested in developing coaching skills can deliver some very positive outcomes, such as, delivering increased motivation, performance and removing barriers and blockers to progression. Coaching skills can change the way people think about your leadership and you can inspire confidence and self-belief in your team. You have an opportunity to motivate others in a positive and inspirational way. If you arenÐt a manager you can assist and support peers through this collaborative approach to tackling issues. Ultimately it empowers people to perform more effectively and through the tools and techniques you learn on this course you will also find that you become more effective too. This interactive day will give you a greater understanding of how you can use this simple coaching tool to improve the performance of others. YouÐll have a better understanding of what makes people tick and be able to use the techniques to build better relationships with others. The standard charge for this course is £80 per day although for council employees this course is free to attend.

Code: SGC/20/262 Committee Support Network (cf)

This network is aimed at new Officers of a Committee and also at more experienced Officers who would like to network with committee members from other settings to share experiences and best practice.

As an Officer of the Committee, do you fully understand the roles and responsibilities of a voluntary organisation? Do you know about the VLE and the information available to you? Are you confident that you can recruit replacements when your time as a Committee Officer is up?

This support network is an informal opportunity for Officers of the Committee to get together and network with others in a similar role, to learn from each other’s experiences, to discuss common issues, and to start to plan for future succession.

“Those with oversight or governance understand their role and carry this out effectively. They have a clear vision and strategy and hold senior leaders to account for the quality of care and education. They ensure that resources are managed sustainably, effectively and efficiently.”
Ofsted Grade Descriptor for Good grading

Managers and leaders of committee run settings: This network is essential for your committee members to attend.
