This practical and engaging half day course will directly benefit any practitioner working with young people and their families across health, youth, education, criminal justice & social care settings to ‘make every contact count’. Developed in line with best practice, this new approach focusses on the wider issues of substance use, smoking and sexual health. It provides the skills, techniques and tools needed to ask appropriate questions, assess risk, signpost and deliver a brief intervention. This innovative training will enable practitioners to develop their awareness and understanding of:
• Early identification & screening of risky behaviours
• How, why and when to deliver a brief intervention
• How to make the most of the resource pack which includes a tool kit for professionals and an information workbook for young people

Code: SGC/20/037 Raising awareness of Child Exploitation - A Contextual Safeguarding Approach (Cancelled)

This is a one day course that raises practitioners awareness to what child sexual exploitation is, what child criminal exploitation is and county lines. It will give practitioners an understanding of what signs to look out for, what contextual safeguarding is and how we are trying to tackle exploitation.

How will this course help me? Our course will take you through the practical steps of writing clear and concise records and writing sequential, powerful and rewarding reports ° whether they are briefing notes, chronologies, summaries, assessments, care plans, safeguarding investigation reports or court reports. We will show you how to tackle your writing with clarity and confidence. You will understand the importance of: ° defining your purpose; ° organising your evidence; ° thinking and structure; ° writing analytically; and ° presentation. We will also highlight the seven deadly sins of social care writing and recording and show you how to avoid them. The standard charge for this course is £80.
