This course is for Ofsted registered childminders, both new to the role or experienced, who would like to develop their knowledge in supporting children’s personal, social emotional development.
This course will provide practical opportunities for exploring this prime area of learning. We will explore:
- The importance of attachment and how this impacts on brain development.
- How children’s anxieties can impact on learning.
- How young children’s behaviours are a form of communicating.
- Strategies to support emotional regulation, intelligence and literacy.
This will be achieved through a mixture of group discussions and practical activities.
By the end of the session you will have gained a better understanding of how young children’s emotional intelligence is a very important part of their ability to learn and develop and will have a range of strategies to support emotional literacy and regulation.
“Listening to babies is necessary to help form and maintain secure attachments to main caregivers which benefits them throughout their lives by helping them to be secure throughout childhood and into adulthood.”
No charge for Ofsted registered South Glos childminders

By booking on to any course directly run by the Early Years Team there is an assumption that you accept the terms and conditions of the no-show policy.
This practice-based course looks in depth at an issue that is commonly encountered by mental health practitioners and social workers and which has no easy answers. It gives an opportunity to review the relevance of the Mental Health Act & Mental Capacity Act, the Care Act 2014 and the involvement of environmental health, and to discuss local issues. The standard charge for this course is £80 per day. Please refer to our Course Charges on the Home page for information on discounts and exemptionsEssential Information
