This webinar is aimed at people working with 5-11 year olds and focuses on recognising and helping children with anxiety. It looks at what is anxiety, an understanding of anxiety and the different types of anxiety. 
 
It is ideal for professionals who have a basic knowledge of anxiety or professionals who would like to refresh their knowledge in this area.

This evening course is specifically for Foster Carers and will cover information on the law, guidance and procedures that protect and safeguard children nationally and within your local area. It will also provide evidence towards meeting Induction Standard Six; Safeguard Children and Young People.

This webinar compliments e-modules, individual induction plans. New starters will receive an overview of the council, a welcome from the Chief Executive and the opportunity to meet fellow new starters as well as a representative from our senior leadership team.



Attendees will also be given an induction pack.

As of 1st August, Acorn Health & Safety are making changes to their first aid training in line with further guidance and awarding body advice. This will be the following:

All participants attending any of our First Aid training courses will be required to bring a 3 ply face mask, fabric masks / scarves will not be acceptable

This mask will be mandatory to wear for all practical elements of the training, but is optional for the theory portion of the course


This is a one day course for participants to develop the skills necessary to provide emergency first aid to someone who has an accident or suddenly becomes ill at work. Participants will be trained and assessed during the course in order to receive a certificate. Please note - you will be required to complete 3 practical assessments and a multiple choice test. You need to bring Photo ID eg passport, driving licence. If these are not available please bring your Work ID with photo If you require assistance with reading/writing please let the use know prior to the start of the course.

This webinar aims to challenge the concept of any young person being ‘hard to reach’ and instead focus on why they are ‘easy to ignore’; why we should and how we can overcome this.

The session will talk through the work that is done under the creative banner at Off the Record and why they do it. Along with work they have done to reach out to communities during the pandemic
 
Please have a pen and paper to hand for the session and if possible access to a smartphone.

Investigating any safeguarding issue is the classic search for the truth, and building evidence is essential. Some people have hidden agendas and mislead, some people construct lies to avoid scrutiny. How then do we teach staff to identify and capture lies? What strategies do we have to challenge lying behaviour and also maintain working relationships?

This one day workshop is designed to allow first-line managers of social care staff to understand what makes for effective staff supervision and to explore the key strategies and skills needed to make good supervision a reality within their own staff team/workplace. This course is relevant to all managers from social care agencies in the Statutory, Voluntary and Independent sectors within South Gloucestershire. The standard charge for this course is £80 per day. PLEASE NOTE: If you have already attended 'Understanding & Responding to Anger & Aggression' you do not need to attend this one.

This one day course is designed for staff and volunteers who provide a service to children and/or adults in the community where they may be working alone; in the service users own home or in office based situations, engaging with people face-to-face or on the telephone. Staff who work alone in the community and in service users own homes can be subject to angry and aggressive behaviour from their service users. Staff working in offices and One Stop Shops are required to respond to members of the public on the phone or face-to-face. It is not unusual for customers to be upset and angry when they make contact with the council. Employers have a responsibility to put systems in place to support safe working practices; training in this area is an important part of the strategy. This course focuses on how to respond calmly and communicate effectively with people in an angry or aggressive state, to maintain the safety and dignity of both the member of staff and the customer/ service user/member of the public.

This session will be an informative session to enable you to understand more about the South Gloucestershire Parent and Carers organization. 
 
The session will cover how we support parent carers who have children or young people with ANY additional need/disability and/or mental health need.
