Code: SGC/21/0419 Colour My Life Webinar (For Young People)

This session is for young people to attend.

Express and acknowledge how you feel about different experiences, thoughts, and emotions through an art themed session. The session will enable you to express yourself through doodling and words.

Thinking about colours for our emotions helps us name and present an alternative language to describe experiences and associated feelings. If we feel unhappy, stressed, or anxious most of the time, it may make us feel ‘red with rage’ or, in a ‘dark depression, blackness’. It’s important to name and tame our most pressing uncomfortable thoughts when we can’t put it straight into words. Mindful doodling, scribbling, or journaling are important activities for getting our feelings onto paper.

Besides recording negative feelings, it’s also important to bank good and positive memories with ‘cheerful colours’ to make us feel happier and more content and hopeful about life in general.

Code: SGC/20/1599 Family Finding Training (SGC Staff Only)

The Family Finding training will focus on techniques to increase the number of network people surrounding children to increase resilience around them and to develop relationships that are generally longer lasting than professional ones.

We will introduce you to a number of techniques developed by Kevin Campbell founder of the Family Finding organisation based in the US.

This course will require workers to come to the training with a family already in mind (one that would benefit from finding their network)

The two day will involve small group work where you will be expected to replicate those techniques shown directly with families over the phone or IT platform. Therefore you need to come with families in mind and be prepared to have a go!

We embrace diversity and want to ensure that our sessions are fully inclusive for all. Please let us know any requirements or needs you have in relation to age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation or caring responsibilities that may be relevant to your participation in the session.

1 attendee per organisation. Attendees must be able to attend both sessions of workshop.

The workshop is aimed at those who are new to delivering safeguarding adult training sessions to groups or any trainer looking for fresh ideas and a structured approach to their training. It will be a practical workshop to equip new trainers to deliver raising safeguarding concerns within their own organisations.

Following attendance of the Safeguarding Adult Train the Trainer Workshop you will be observed delivering your safeguarding adult training, it is expected that the observation will be carried out within an agreed timescale of attendance of the train the trainer workshop. Verbal feedback will be given after the session has been observed and followed up with written feedback, any recommendations that are suggested will be followed up prior to sign off.

Following successful completion of observation you will be invited to join the Trained Trainer Network. This network meets every 4-6 months to share experiences and learning, to swap ideas on best practice and new materials, and to support each other in the key tasks of building and maintaining safeguarding adults good practice.
