Code: SGC/19/207 Using Drama and Props to Promote Writing for 3 - 4 year olds (cf) NEW DATE

This highly practical course is suitable for all practitioners at Level 3 and above who are looking for creative ideas to support children’s mark making.

Drama and props present an exciting opportunity for children to make sense of the world around them, helping them to develop social and language skills which together form the foundations for early writing. When children engage in drama and using props they play out short scenarios which are stories in their own right. Making up stories, understanding them, re-enacting them, practising, rehearsing and refining them, is a stepping stone to being able to write the story in years to come.

This is a practical course which will explore a range of ideas and strategies to use in the early years setting. The course will explore the links between children’s language development, the stories they tell through their play and how we, as adults, can support children to write their stories down.
