This one day course looks at how to make sure that equality and diversity is at the heart of everything we do. It covers how to deal with day-to-day issues as well as what you can do to promote equality of opportunity in a planned way. Standard charge for this course is £70. There is a £10 charge for council employees to attend this course.

This network provides an opportunity for practitioners who have already completed certificated Makaton training to refresh and recap signs from stages 1-4 and discuss practical ways to use signs and symbols in everyday situations.
You will be informed of Makaton developments and look at themes to support and develop your Makaton practice such as festivals, songs, animals, colours and those found on the Makaton website. It is an opportunity to network, share challenges and good practice.

YOU WILL NEED TO ATTEND THE "RAISING SAFEGUARDING CONCERNS" (previously ALERTER) COURSE BEFORE YOU ATTEND THIS WORKSHOP.
Safeguarding Adults is a high priority aspect of the social/healthcare task. The role of a manager/practitioner in ensuring that staff respond appropriately to an ‘alert’ is vital. These staff also need to be confident about their own responsibilities in safeguarding adults, and responding appropriately to concerns about a person’s safety. This 1-day course will assist managers/supervisors, Social Workers/OTs and other practitioners including in healthcare be clear about their role: how Making Safegaurding Personal impacts on it, how to conduct an interview, and how to make decisions about what to do next.

This course is aimed at practitioners and childminders who work with children of all ages within early years settings, who want to enhance children’s communication and language development by using practical strategies and visual aids.
This practical session is designed to share ideas, resources and visual aids to support children’s speech, language and communication development.
There will be opportunities to:
Discuss and evaluate current awareness and knowledge of different communication strategies
Review and refresh frequently used Makaton signs
Look at different visual aids strategies and how they can support children through the day and at home
There will also be time to consider children’s individual communication needs.
