This training is for people who will be using the Signs of Safety approach in their day-to-day work with children, young people and their families or carers. It is also relevant for people who will be supervising others who are using the approach. The two day Signs of Safety Introduction training is provided by accredited external trainers and places are limited.
Key Integrated Children's Services staff to attend are those who chair key meetings and who undertake statutory assessments gathering information from other agencies and where the outcome has a considerable impact on the life of a child/family.

Talking Mats is a visual framework that uses picture symbols to help people with a variety of communication difficulties to communicate more effectively.
The approach ensures that people are involved in choice making and expressing opinions in an accessible way. It is an excellent tool for encouraging inclusive practice.
Talking Mats is used by clinical practitioners, carers and support workers in a wide range of health, social work, residential and education settings.

This training is delivered by specialist staff from South Gloucestershire Council & North Bristol Trust. It will draw heavily on case studies from the field to ensure delivery remains rooted in the context of the specific challenges & difficulties experienced by looked after children & young people.

This course looks at transforming the quality of your approach and how you record that new way of working: your assessments, care plans, visit forms, & all written work will be clear, concise and bring to life what life must be like for each child or young person youÀre working with. To do this the course will show you how to draw on your knowledge from research, experience and practice combined with an understanding of the childÀs needs within their family or the context in which the child lives. It will show you how the facts-analysis-judgement approach works: and how it will help as you move towards the Signs of Safety way of working. This course aims to make you confident in understanding what is relevant and meaningful and then show you how to write that down effectively. The standard charge for this course is £70.
