Compulsory adult Safeguarding training for all South Gloucestershire Breakthrough Mentors.

The half-day Raising Safeguarding Concerns course is essential training for all front-line staff and managers who are involved in providing services to adults at risk and who work directly with service users.

The course will cover how to recognise Safeguarding concerns, local policies and procedures, and how to raise Safeguarding concerns.

Code: SGC/19/1384 Contract Management Training (Local Authority staff only: Sth Glos, N Somerset, B&NES) (EVENT FULL)

This one-day interactive training course provides excellent foundation knowledge and awareness of how to manage contracts with external providers successfully in order to extract better value-for-money and deliver the desired commercial outcomes. Competence in this area is equally about how to manage intelligently, knowing when to consult with professional colleagues especially when undertaking complex processes such as contractual change, recognising the key drivers that will improve supplier performance and understanding the role and importance of robust contract governance.

The course is ideal for individuals who have accountability for managing third party service providers within the council (including budget holders, contract managers, relationship managers, service delivery managers and procurement practitioners), as well as those that are relatively new to the procurement function.

Please note there is £100 recharge for South Glos employees to attend this course.

Code: SGC/20/308 Enhanced Attention Bucket Ideas (£)

This course is appropriate for all practitioners working in early years who have previously attended “Using Attention Bucket Activities to Support Children in your Setting” training and run Attention Bucket activities in your setting.

This course will provide an opportunity to network with practitioners from other settings, to share attention bucket ideas.

It will provide an increased knowledge of activities when using bucket activities in your setting to extend children’s listening and attention skills.

There will be lots of practical demonstrations of activities you will experience which will inform and enhance your practice, and have ideas to take back and use at your setting.

PLEASE NOTE: You will need to have attended ‘Using Attention Bucket Activities to Support Children in your Setting’ in order to attend this course.

NO-SHOW POLICY
It is important to note that the majority of our early years courses are subject to a ‘no-show’ policy. Payments made for chargeable courses are non-refundable unless cancellation is received at least five working days prior to the start of the course. For centrally funded courses, if a delegate fails to attend, or fails to cancel at least five working days prior to the start of the course, the setting will be invoiced for a no-show charge – this charge will be £30 if the course is 3 hours or less, or £50 if the course is more than 3 hours.
By booking on to any course directly run by the Early Years Team there is an assumption that you accept the terms and conditions of the no-show policy.

Code: SGC/20/027 Level 2 Award in Food Safety (Basic Food Hygiene)

This award (formerly the Basic Food Hygiene certificate) is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH). All food handlers are required by law to receive appropriate food hygiene training. This is relevant for anyone in contact with food preparation and service, such as Catering Staff, Care/Support staff (adult social care/housing-related services), Teaching staff, Lunchtime Supervisors, Classroom Assistants and Students. The standard charge for this course is £80 per day. Payment can be made via www.southglos.gov.uk/online payments and selecting Adult Social Care 1 day Training.
