Code: SGC/20/203 Human Trafficking & Modern Slavery: 90 minute awareness session

This training aims to provide attendees with a greater knowledge of human trafficking and slavery and explore the issues facing individuals who have been trafficked, how to correctly identify and spot the signs of potential exploitation and how to report suspected incidents. This course is suitable for staff who have regular contact with suppliers; contractors; the public and families (including adults and children and young people; AND/OR regular involvement in safeguarding issues; and managers who manage these services). The training will cover: • What trafficking and slavery are • Nature and scale of the issue – nationally, regionally, locally • Types of trafficking and slavery • How to recognise the signs • National and local examples of the issue • The National Referral Mechanism – what it is • South Gloucestershire Council employee responsibilities This is a 90 minute awareness session available at both KCC and BMR. This is a condensed version of the 3-hour Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery training which is available at KCC only, on a quarterly basis.

Code: SGC/20/058 Inter-Agency Child Protection (EVENT FULL)

Inter-Agency Child Protection. This one day training course is delivered on behalf of the South Gloucestershire Children's Partnership and is targeted at employees working directly with children and young people who have completed °single° agency Child Protection e.g. e-learning CP and is facilitated by an experienced safeguarding trainer. Safeguarding of children and young people is everybody°s responsibility. This multi-agency course is aimed at those who need to expand upon the knowledge gained from single-agency training by increasing confidence and competence in order to contribute to inter-agency assessments and to undertake an assessment of risk when required.

The course aims to give staff an opportunity to explore within a face to face, multi-agency environment, various aspects of child protection in order to enhance knowledge and awareness of the issues and the ability to respond appropriately to them. This course will also cover basic processes and procedures for making a referral to Children°s Social Care.

Those that have frontline responsibility or are the designated safeguarding lead in their establishment should also undertake Advanced Inter-Agency Child Protection training. Please note it is recommended to leave a minimum of 3 months between attending Inter Agency Child Protection and Advanced Inter Agency Child Protection.

YOU WILL NEED TO ATTEND THE "RAISING SAFEGUARDING CONCERNS" (previously ALERTER) COURSE BEFORE YOU ATTEND THIS WORKSHOP.

Safeguarding Adults is a high priority aspect of the social/healthcare task. The role of a manager/practitioner in ensuring that staff respond appropriately to an ‘alert’ is vital. These staff also need to be confident about their own responsibilities in safeguarding adults, and responding appropriately to concerns about a person’s safety. This 1-day course will assist managers/supervisors, Social Workers/OTs and other practitioners including in healthcare be clear about their role: how Making Safegaurding Personal impacts on it, how to conduct an interview, and how to make decisions about what to do next.
