Code: SGC/19/1348 Children, Adults and Health Dept. Induction (Cancelled)

This is a 1-day overview for newly-appointed staff working in the council's Children, Adults & Health department. It aims to provide those staff with general information about the department, and is a complement to the ongoing workplace induction process that all new staff should receive from their line manager and team. Staff must also complete the six mandatory e-modules that all new council staff need to undertake, as set out in the guidance on MyHR.

Code: SGC/20/071 Domestic Abuse and Coercive Control (on behalf of Safeguarding Adults Board) (Cancelled)

This is a half-day course delivered by Sarah Wigley, commissioned on behalf of the South Glos Safeguarding Adults Board. It is aimed at practitioners working in adult care services - across both statutory and IVP sectors - for whom it can act as an "intermediate"-level domestic violence and abuse course, e.g. to be completed before going on to do the Domestic Abuse: Advanced training and the Working with Perpetrators course (see LSCB training pathway). Children's services workforces may also find it helpful in terms of the particular focus on Coercive Control that this workshop covers.

Code: SGC/19/1354 New Breakthrough Mentor Training (Cancelled)

This course is designed to give you the knowledge to become a Breakthrough mentor; Breakthrough mentoring supports people to develop positive experiences and relationships, enabling them to achieve, grow and develop new skills and to realise their full potential. So what is a mentor? A Breakthrough mentor is someone who works alongside a vulnerable person (mentee) to empower them to become independent and live a fulfilled life. They will work individually with the mentee, using activities that engage and motivate them to gain confidence, self-belief and work towards independence. What type of person are we looking for? Our placements are unique and varied, which requires us to have a diverse group of mentors. You don’t need a set of qualifications, just special qualities that enable you to support your mentee to learn, grow and develop.
