This network provides an opportunity for practitioners who have already completed certificated Makaton training to refresh and recap signs from stages 1-4 and discuss practical ways to use signs and symbols in everyday situations.
You will be informed of Makaton developments and look at themes to support and develop your Makaton practice such as festivals, songs, animals, colours and those found on the Makaton website. It is an opportunity to network, share challenges and good practice.
YOU WILL NEED TO ATTEND A RAISING SAFEGUARDING CONCERNS COURSE BEFORE ATTENDING THIS TRAINING. Managers of agencies that provide services for adults at risk must ensure they lead a "safe service", with competent staff and an organisational culture that safeguards adults. This 1-day workshop will help delegates to understand and be accountable for the key factors in managing and preventing organisational abuse in the services they lead and/or review. Mindfulness in a nutshell is about being in the present with awareness of your body, breath, emotions and thoughts. It can then help to re-direct our lives to be filled with more enjoyment, gratitude, kindness, wisdom and peace. All you need to bring is yourself and a sense of curiosity to explore. This session will focus on what is mindfulness. Crossing over with physical and mental health, you’ll learn how to connect with your body, use gentle movement and by simply using your breath, you’ll start to connect your body and mind and can let go and create some mental space. This course is run by Nazama Tague, an experienced professional meditation and yoga teacher.

Practitioners supporting toddlers will gain an insight into their typical social and emotional development. We will look at strategies to support toddlers to self-regulate and understand and manage their own feelings. Practitioners will gain a better understanding of how toddlers’ brains are developing and how appropriate strategies can help a child to communicate their feelings.
Working with CSE: Skills and Practice This is a one day course that aims to develop practitioner skills, offers ideas to enhance practice and introduces practical ways of working with young people who are at risk of sexual exploitation.
