The aim of the webinar is to provide an overview of the 3 conversations model as used within South Gloucestershire Council. This session will be led by Kate Davey with support from Debra Parsons.

This is day 1 of 2 for Adult social care practitioners (social wrkers, social work assistants)This will be delivered via Zoom. You will be sent a Zoom invite nearer the time.

This 1/2 day course is suitable for all staff who could potentially come into contact with individuals with Autism Spectrum Conditions.

Course Aims: Develop knowledge and competencies in working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Conditions.

The course is delivered by Matthew Trerise, a specialist trainer who has 15 years of experience in supporting people with ASC in a wide range of care settings, including residential, low secure and in the community. Matthew currently works for a nationally recognised specialist diagnostic service, delivering training and clinical supervision to frontline staff across the care pathway.

This 2 hour webinar is delivered on behalf of the South Gloucestershire Children's Partnership.

Participants should be only those who have already completed an Advanced-level of Child Protection training within statutory or setting-related timescales, and who now need to maintain this level of training.

Also, it will be necessary for participants to have completed distance learning provided, prior to the webinar.

Participants will be expected to have a good working knowledge of safeguarding with experience of statutory and local child protection responsibilities and procedures.


Effective child protection depends not only on reliable and accepted procedures for all staff involved with children, but also on their skills, knowledge and judgment and the ability to work together co-operatively.

Staff with lead roles in child protection require specialised training in order to carry out their work with abused children and families.

The learning outcomes for this training are designed to ensure that all participants receive updates in the latest child protection legislation, statutory guidance, local policies, procedures and professional requirements.

This one day programme is intended for any individuals from the Council and staff from all Statutory, Voluntary and Independent sectors working with people with Epilepsy. Non-care staff need only attend the morning session of this course. The course is a combination of interactive discussion, demonstration and practice with equipment and group work. This all member briefing will outline the council’s approach to dealing with fly tipping and litter, which is seen as good practice nationally and by other authorities. It will include consideration of the pattern of fly-tipping across different parts of South Gloucestershire, and the increasing links between this activity and Organised Criminal Gangs.

Managers are responsible for the management of individual and team performance. This one day training course will explain the Council's Personal Development and Performance Review process. The workshop focuses on practising the skills to carry out effective meetings, understanding objective setting and making the PDPR process meaningful for all staff. Workforce Development.

Session 2 focus - Funding and marketing

This session is for practitioners who will be running the How Babies Learn to Talk groups. We will explore the information that will be shared with families around the development of babies communication, key messages we want parents to be aware of, and will look at some of the videos which will be shared.

These 50 minute coaching sessions with coaches will assist council staff in coming up with strategies and action plans to maintain and build their wellbeing and resilience. Unlike counselling which provides a safe space to explore worries and concerns, these confidential coaching sessions will help staff come up with individual plans to help them build their resilience, understand what they can do to enhance their wellbeing and overcome current and future obstacles. There are activities and exercises that wellbeing coaches can also give people to work through in their own time if they would find it useful.
