Code: SGC/19/596 EYFS Leadership Network 2018/2019 (SCHOOLS ONLY) (cf) (Cancelled)

PLEASE NOTE SESSION 1 HAS BEEN CANCELLED.  SESSIONS 2 & 3 WILL GO AHEAD AS PLANNED.

This network is for EYFS leaders, assessment co-ordinators and experienced EYFS teachers who are aspiring leaders in school.

What does high quality teaching and learning look like in Reception? How do I monitor progress? How do I ensure the children are prepared for Year 1? What is expected progress in Reception? How do I monitor continuous provision? How do I diminish the difference for disadvantaged children? What is your data telling you?

Do these questions sound familiar? Are you juggling the role of the EYFS leader while teaching the youngest children in your school? If so, this network is for you.

We will explore the role of the EYFS leader within a school, embracing the challenge of leading this unique phase of education. The sessions will provide delegates with the opportunity to meet other leaders and address current issues and problem solve together. This will be a forum which will respond to your needs and requirements as leaders within school.

Effective leadership in early years has been recognised as being significant in raising standards and outcomes for children. Through this network you will develop your own leadership skills in order to achieve outstanding outcomes for your children.

Code: SGC/19/056 Launch Pad Session 6: Dedicated Induction, Training and Support Group for Connected Carers including Special Guardians

What is it? This is a new dedicated Induction, Training and Support Group for Connected Carers, Including Special Guardians Why are we running it? We recognise that your situation is very different to that of main stream foster carers. The new role that you find yourself in now, is often not a pathway you may have planned on taking. Unlike foster carers, you are thrown in at the deep end without having had a course to prepare you for what lies ahead, and how ‘The System’ works. This course aims to do that as well as recognise the particular difficulties that you as ‘Kinship Carers’, whatever your role, face. How will it run? There will be six sessions, each lasting approximately 2-2.5 hours, which will take place over the course of a year. It is hoped that you will attend all six, but as new carers arrive, they can join the programme at any stage. The sessions will be led in the main by Social workers from our team. There will be light refreshment of tea and coffee provided at each session, but it would be rather nice if we could take it in turns to bring and share some food. The first session will be catered for, but we will discuss how this works for future sessions at the end of our first meeting. This session will focus on: Trauma

It is FREE to the identified staff working in Care Homes.

This network is for new teachers, experienced teachers who come from teaching in another age group, or teachers returning to the EYFS following time teaching in another year group

Are you new to teaching and find yourself in a Reception class? Are you an experienced teacher and working in EYFS for the first time? Are you an experienced teacher returning to EYFS? This network will reveal the excitement and challenge of working with the very youngest children in school. We will provide an opportunity for you to share good practice and discuss issues and concerns with colleagues at each session.

Have you identified your disadvantaged children? When are you planning for them in order to narrow the gap? Is your environment supporting learning and development for your cohort?

We would like this training to be responsive to the needs of NQTs and experienced teachers new to or returning to EYFS in addition to any focus we may agree in response to national and local initiatives or EYFS data, so please bring along your ideas, suggestions and data to each session.

This is also an opportunity to make links with other teachers in EYFS and has always been a useful discussion forum for sharing ideas, tips and concerns.
