These half day sessions are for all EYFS leaders, teachers and teaching assistants working in Reception who are committed to developing teaching and learning in order to improve outcomes for all children.

This course is an opportunity for all practitioners in Reception to come together and explore good practice in Early Years.

Data Protection & ICT Security refresher training 2019

This course will explore the links between healthy relationship development, positive mental health and strong emotional resilience. Whilst there is a developing knowledge element the course's primary purpose is to provide participants with the practical skills and resource's needed to engage young people in discussion and learning opportunities that promote healthy relationship behaviours and choices.

The Equality Act 2010 states that service providers must make sure they meet the requirements of equality law.  
This includes making sure staff are sufficiently trained to deal with and support customers or service users, along with the need to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people.

This 1-day workshop will provide information to help meet these essential service requirements.  

The South Gloucestershire Council Health and Safety team is pleased to offer low cost training for those who have the responsibility to ensure a business complies with health and safety law. There is a legal requirement for all employers to appoint a competent person to take the lead in making sure a business meets its legal responsibilities (Regulation 7, Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999). This is usually a manager or supervisor but can be anyone appointed into this role within a business. We recognise this can be a challenging role for those who work in small/medium sized businesses; here is an opportunity to receive accurate, honest information from the team that inspects your business. You will find we are approachable and keen to help you as much as possible. Who better to give you the answers you need? This course is for managers and supervisors. Are you up to date with local and national information relevant to early years? Come and join with other leaders and managers for an informal meeting specifically aimed at supporting the sector. This network meeting will provide an opportunity to receive and share information. Sessions are structured to facilitate and encourage professional discussion and dialogue. Subjects discussed will reflect national and local updates, consultations or imminent changes. Across the year a variety of topics will be explored.

Mandatory Adult and Child Safeguarding 

This briefing will provide a brief overview of the legislation that gives Local Authorities the duty to carry out safeguarding enquiries, including a look at the terminology that is used. It will cover the definition of an Adult at Risk and the types of abuse that can occur. It will also look at Organisational Abuse and touch on the recent Safeguarding Adults Review that has been published, as well as giving the telephone numbers for people to use if they have concerns about a person or service.

This one-day workshop is aimed at helping staff and managers to develop tutoring skills, to help people learn on the job in their workplaces. The workshop assists people to understand issues such as barriers to learning, structuring workplace learning to meet different needs and how to set goals and assess progress towards competence in a new role.

Youth Mental Health First Aid will teach you the skills and confidence to spot the signs of mental health issues in a young person, offer first aid and guide them towards the support they need. In doing so, you can speed up a young person’s recovery and stop a mental health issue from getting worse. Our courses won't teach you to be a therapist - but just like physical first aid, we will teach you to listen, reassure and respond, even in a crisis.
