This half day course follows CQC requirements on the administration of medication. It includes trainer presentation, discussion, and a short multiple-choice assessment at the end to check the information has been retained by participants. Relevant handouts/paperwork will be provided. This course is aimed at any adult social care staff in South Gloucestershire, working in domiciliary, residential and day care services (statutory sector AND IVP sector agencies).

This session is £50 for non SGC staff

During this session your trainer will provide you with an introduction to Mosaic workflow and on how to complete and progress work within Mosaic. You’ll also get the opportunity to work through a Mosaic workflow process that you’ll be using in your day to day role.

This is a trainer-led virtual course conducted via Microsoft Teams and the Mosaic Training Database.

Mosaic Training – Adult Intermediate is designed to enable current AIS users to consolidate what they have learned through the Mosaic Me Learning, navigate around the system and to be competent with the basics that Mosaic has to offer.

This is an online course conducted virtually via Mocrosoft Teams, SharePoint and the Mosaic Training Database.

The training is organised by South Gloucestershire Safeguarding Children Board Training Group and is targeted at all staff from all agencies who are working directly with children, or adults who are parents. Effective child protection depends not only on reliable and accepted procedures for all staff involved with children, but also on their skills, knowledge and judgement and the ability to work together co-operatively. Staff with lead roles in child protection require specialised training in order to carry out their work with abused children and families. Please note it is recommended to leave a minimum of 3 months between attending Introduction to Child Protection and Advanced Child Protection.


Requirements for training via Zoom:

• Participants must be provided with protected time, in an environment free from all work-related duties and distractions to successfuly complete the training
• Participants require access to a camera and microphone to be able to fully engage in the session
• On the day of training, should the above requirements not be possible, participants should rebook for a different date when they are able to meet the requirements, failure to full engage in the session may result in non-issue of certificate and a request to repeat the training session.

 Exploitation happens when someone has power and control over another person. They take advantage of another person’s vulnerability to make money, improve their status or gain control. In order to gain control and power they will groom the victim. The way they do this is by befriending them. This could be by buying them gifts or by giving them money, alcohol or drugs. They could also make them feel special and give them a group to belong to. Perpetrators will target a person’s vulnerability, whether they are children or adults, and will try to isolate the victim to make them depend on the perpetrator.

Adult Exploitation is an extremely important issue for anyone working with vulnerable adults. Exploitation can effect a wide range of people in very many different ways. It is an issue that needs to be understood by professionals so they know who might be more vulnerable to being exploited, what to look out for when they are working with vulnerable people and what to do if they are concerned that someone they are working with may be a victim of exploitation.

It can sometimes be really hard for a victim to know and understand that they are a victim of exploitation, as the perpetrator could be regarded as a friend. It can be very hard for the victim to disclose that they are being abused as they are being controlled by the perpetrator and they rely on them for help and support. If professionals are aware of the warning signs and risk indicators then they may be able to see the signs before the victim is aware of what may be happening. It is important to flag up early signs of exploitation so that a multi-agency approach can be put into place. This would include police who could then try and spot any criminal offences being carried out by the perpetrator and the possibility of any emerging patterns such as organised crime and exploitation rings.

Making a difference to children who are deemed at risk from financial disadvantage (Those eligible for two-year-old funding and early years pupil premium) 

This course is for all Early Years Practitioners who support children who are in receipt of two year old funding and early years pupil premium whether you have one child or a high number of children eligible for this funding.

As an Early Years Setting you fundamental in making a difference to the long-term outcomes of children who are in receipt of two year funding and early years pupil premium.
These sessions will explore research on the best ways to make the best possible use of EYPP, and to demonstrate the impact it can have.

Participating settings will work in partnership with others, to share ideas and experiences and support and evaluate strategies.

Commitment to attend all sessions is required.

The aim of this blended online course is to enable managers with no previous recruitment experience to carry out effective recruitment.

If you have recruited in other organisations you may also find this useful as a refresher or to find out the council approach.

The course will familiarise you with the council’s recruitment guide and you will explore essential and additional criteria for posts, options regarding advert content and where adverts are placed, how to identify appropriate selection processes to use alongside the recruitment interview, shortlisting, preparing for interviews and other assessment tools, how to make fair and unbiased recruitment decisions, giving feedback and the steps you need to take to induct a new starter through to probation.

Participants will need to put aside 2.5 hours to complete the Rise self-study package entitled: “Recruitment, onboarding and induction” in advance of the training day to ensure a baseline of knowledge. Click here for link to emodule

The day itself will consist of some group discussions and self reflection time to aid your learning. As this course covers South Gloucestershire processes it is for internal staff only.

Signs of Safety- Bitesize session- Building on families strengths

A 1 hour 30 minute bitesize session for people working with children and families in South Gloucestershire to be able to explore and gain confidence in building on families strengths using strength and safety questions.

This briefing is an opportunity for members to hear about the developing integrated care system strategy and comment on the emerging priorities.

The session will be chaired by Chris Sivers, Director of People and Councillor Ben Stokes, Executive Member for Adults and Housing, with support from Colin Bradbury, Director of Strategy, Partnerships and Population at the Integrated Care Board and Sarah Weld, Director of Public Health.
