This half day workshop is aimed at adult social care staff in South Gloucestershire, working in domiciliary, residential and day care services (statutory sector AND IVP sector agencies) The course includes trainer presentation, discussion, and a short multiple-choice assessment at the end to check the information has been retained by participants. Relevant handouts/paperwork will be provided by the facilitator Claire Boyd, North Bristol Trust. Please note this training is held at Southmead Hospital (Learning & Research building in the Science Quarter).

This one day programme is intended for any individuals from the Council and staff from all Statutory, Voluntary and Independent sectors working with people with Epilepsy. Non-care staff need only attend the morning session of this course. The course is a combination of interactive discussion, demonstration and practice with equipment and group work. This 3-hour webinar is specifically for all council-employed Adult Social Care practitioners: Social Workers, OTs, Senior Practitioners, Team & Service Managers.
It is a “core” internal training course which builds on and complements the existing multi-agency Safeguarding Adults training programmes that provide a foundation of knowledge and skills.
The course will enable all adult social care practitioners in South Glos Council to:
1. Update their understanding of the legal duties and principles in relation to safeguarding adults (e.g. within the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act).
2. Increase their confidence to work to national and local expectations and processes for safeguarding adults.
3. Refresh and refine their skills and knowledge around working with risk, effective decision-making and communication to promote confidence in adult safeguarding.
