The training is organised by South Gloucestershire Safeguarding Children Board Training Group and is targeted at all staff from all agencies who are working directly with children, or adults who are parents. Effective child protection depends not only on reliable and accepted procedures for all staff involved with children, but also on their skills, knowledge and judgement and the ability to work together co-operatively. Staff with lead roles in child protection require specialised training in order to carry out their work with abused children and families. Please note it is recommended to leave a minimum of 3 months between attending Introduction to Child Protection and Advanced Child Protection.


Requirements for training via Zoom:

Participants must be provided with protected time, in an environment free from all work-related duties and distractions to successfuly complete the training
Participants require access to a camera and microphone to be able to fully engage in the session
On the day of training, should the above requirements not be possible, participants should rebook for a different date when they are able to meet the requirements, failure to full engage in the session may result in non-issue of certificate and a request to repeat the training session.

Requirements for face-to-face training:

Participants must arrive on time and allow time for parking.
Participants should attend the full training day, participants should be rebook for a different date if they are unable to attend the full day.

As the recruiting manager you’re at the centre of the process, driving the process to recruit the best person to meet your job needs. You have the insight and knowledge of how the role fits into the overall team, and what is needed to effectively perform this. This webinar will give you an understanding of good the skills required in remote recruitment and selection. It will include advert writing, candidate attraction, using CVs in selection and the council’s new recruitment system. You’ll have the opportunity to discuss how remote recruitment differs from face to face recruitment in terms of shortlisting and interviewing and gain advice on your own recruitment practices. We will also cover unconscious bias and how to promote equality within recruitment.

Resilience is something you do, not what you have and therefore is a skill you can develop within yourself. This is a time where a great deal of resilience is needed and this online course can help you gain skills, knowledge and the ability to deal with challenges in more resilient ways. This course will introduce you to resilience skills, insights, strategies and practices.Based on Chris Johnstone's book Seven Ways to Build Resilience, this companion online course describes seven essential skills that help your resilience grow. With about two hours of video divided into short, easy to watch episodes, the course introduces insights and strategies that strengthen your ability to deal with difficult times. This online course includes storyboarding, emotional first aid, thinking flexibly, overload management, problem solving, strengthening support, stickability, overview and next steps.
