This one day course aims to enable participants to gain an insight into deafness and to develop basic communication skills to use with deaf and hard of hearing people. This course will include exercises including a lip reading test and how much sign language can you learn in half an hour?
Staff who attend this "Understanding me, I have hearing loss" workshop will receive a GDA Deaf Awareness certificate.

We plan to run this course face-to-face.  If necessary it may have to revert back to Online (4 sessions over 4 days).

The Mental Health First Aid England Manual that accompanies this course has to be purchased 2 weeks prior to the start date. Therefore, if you cancel within 5 working days of the course starting or you are a ‘no show’ on the day, then your organisation will be charged £25 for the Manual + £4 P&P.

In order to meet Mental Health First Aid England's registration requirements, please provide an e-mail address and phone number.

Mental Health First Aid is the help given to someone experiencing a mental health problem before professional help is obtained.

Mental Health First Aid does not teach people to be therapists. However, it does teach people how to recognise the symptoms of mental health problems, how to provide initial help and how to guide a person towards appropriate help.

The course is aimed at anyone with an interest in promoting positive emotional and mental health.

This interactive online training course will explain the Council's Personal Development and Performance Review (PDPR) process.

Managers are responsible for the management of individual and team performance. This blended online training course will explain the Council's Personal Development and Performance Review (PDPR)) process. The workshop focuses on understanding what is required of managers in this process, practising the skills to carry out effective and positive meetings, understanding objective setting and making the PDPR process meaningful and engaging for all staff. There is an online course which gives you more information about the expectations of you as a manager in this process.

This course is particularly useful for council managers who are new to carrying out PDPRs are is provides you an opportunity to ask questions and discuss good practice with other council colleagues.

This is the ideal place to start for professional management development. This engaging one day blended course will enable you to reflect on your management role and responsibilities as well as and the organisational and departmental context of your role. You will have the opportunity to discuss behaviours, skills and attitudes of effective managers and leaders and what is expected of you as an individual.

We believe that management development has foundations in self awareness and understanding your style. We will work with you to identify how you work best, what you bring to a team and the areas you need to develop in order to meet council expectations, as well as the behaviours set out in the council values and behaviours framework. We will consider personality, learning styles, performance requirements and different leadership models to help you build a continuing professional development plan as a manager.
