You will also be expected to complete an assessment between the two training dates and therefore, it would be helpful to have this planned in

The Butterflies and Bees training course for foster carers, (which has recently been updated and had its name changed to: Therapeutic Parenting Pick 'n' Mix), is usually a ten week group for carers and parents to develop in their abilities to therapeutically and reflectively support the children in their care. Thinking Aloud will be running a condensed version of the course over three 2.5 hour session, available to all staff: FPT, CLA, Locality Team social workers, IRO's, Breakthrough mentors, to help you discover some of the techniques, strategies and theories we are sharing with carers. We will cover in depth the impact of trauma and disrupted attachment on children’s development and mental health. There will also be lots of space to try techniques out and play some games to embed our understanding.”

Core Skills 6: This is a training course for Foster Carers and Adopters that will build on your knowledge and understanding of attachment. Training includes:- Introduction to attachment theory, its significance in normal infant development The impact of attachment experiences on brain development The impact of trauma on child development Different attachment styles The meaning behind children's behavior, understanding and responding to complex emotions and behaviours such as the need to be in control, pervasive shame and extreme anger Interventions in managing family atmosphere The impact of children's behaviour on parents and carers. Looking after yourself and your emotions. This course will help you to understand, survive and facilitate change in the behaviours of the children you care for.
