This half day workshop is aimed at adult social care staff in South Gloucestershire, working in domiciliary, residential and day care services (statutory sector AND IVP sector agencies) The course includes trainer presentation, discussion, and a short multiple-choice assessment at the end to check the information has been retained by participants. Relevant handouts/paperwork will be provided by the facilitator Claire Boyd, North Bristol Trust. Please note this training is held at Southmead Hospital (Learning & Research building in the Science Quarter).

This series of bite size learning sessions, is aimed at giving you further information on topics that you may or may not be familiar with. 


We have a range of subjects on offer as well as different speakers; including foster carers, social workers, GP’s, Clinical Psychologists, Specialist Mental Health Clinician, contributing to most of the sessions.
 
 
It is also very much a session for you to be able to ask questions, in order to better understand a topic, or have queries answered. 
 

Sessions will run from 10:00 to 12:30/13:00 , or 18:30 – 21:00 if this is an evening course.

This pilot 2 hour webinar is delivered on behalf of the South Gloucestershire Children's Partnership.

Participants should be only those who have already completed an Advanced-level of Child Protection training within statutory or setting-related timescales, and who now need to maintain this level of training.

Also, it will be necessary for participants to have completed distance learning provided, prior to the webinar.

Participants will be expected to have a good working knowledge of safeguarding with experience of statutory and local child protection responsibilities and procedures.


Effective child protection depends not only on reliable and accepted procedures for all staff involved with children, but also on their skills, knowledge and judgment and the ability to work together co-operatively.

Staff with lead roles in child protection require specialised training in order to carry out their work with abused children and families.

The learning outcomes for this training are designed to ensure that all participants receive updates in the latest child protection legislation, statutory guidance, local policies, procedures and professional requirements.

We will update the councillors our new drug strategy which sets out our plans to prevent and tackle drug related harm in South Gloucestershire. We want to gain their views as part of our formal consultation. We can also give an update on our Drug and Alcohol services and how they have approached the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This course is for leaders and managers of pre-schools and nurseries.

Are you up to date with local and national information relevant to early years? Come and join other leaders and managers for a meeting which will provide an opportunity to receive and share information. Sessions are structured to draw on research to facilitate and encourage professional discussion and dialogue. Subjects discussed will reflect national and local updates, consultations or imminent changes. Across the year a variety of topics will be explored and the network will be responsive to your needs so please bring your ideas.

The multi-agency South Gloucestershire Safeguarding Adults Board oversees the Joint Policy and Procedures for Safeguarding Adults in this area. It is essential that a wide range of staff working in local authority, health and social care agencies are fully aware of the key issues in safeguarding vulnerable adults and of how the policy affects them in their front-line roles. The half-day Raising Safeguarding Concerns course is essential training for all front-line staff and managers who are involved in providing services to adults at risk and who work directly with service users. The course content is mapped to the learning outcomes in the local Safeguarding Adults Training Standards (published Dec 2017) as well as to relevant national occupational standards including the Care Certificate (Standard 10). Course attendance is monitored by the Safeguarding Adults Board. The standard charge for this course is £40. This 2-hour webinar aims to increase children's services practitioners' understanding around self-harm/injury and suicide.

The session will be run in Microsoft Teams and be led by children's services managers.

All council Integrated Children's Services staff are expected to attend the session.

This 1-day training programme is specifically for employees in the council's HR teams (Casework and Change Team, and Integra).

The course will provide an overview of TUPE Regulations. It will focus on the law in this area, on public sector TUPE in and out, and between Public Sector organisations.

A session delivered by Dr Peter Jones covering the following:

 
· Understanding the underpinning principles of unconscious (implicit) bias

· Understanding how how it may affect our people decisions

· Applying this knowledge to our key people processes

· Developing personal and organisational actions to help mitigate bias.
