Code: SGC/20/0479 Getting to the Truth

This course is for South Glos Council INTEGRATED CHILDREN'S SERVICES Staff only. Investigating any safeguarding issue is the classic search for the truth, and building evidence is essential. Some people have hidden agendas and mislead, some people construct lies to avoid scrutiny. How then do we teach staff to identify and capture lies? What strategies do we have to challenge lying behaviour and also maintain working relationships?

Code: SGC/20/306 SMART Targets and SCRUFFY Outcomes (cf) (Cancelled)

This course is aimed at SENCOs and Childminders who wish to gain further knowledge of this important aspect of supporting children with SEND or more experienced SENCOs who wish to refresh their knowledge.

“Early years providers must guide the development of children’s capabilities with a view to ensuring that children in their care complete the EYFS ready to benefit fully from the opportunities ahead of them.”
(EYFS Statutory Framework)

For children who have SEND it is important their next steps are developmentally appropriate and their successes are measurable. This half day course will focus on the skills required in order to write developmentally appropriate targets for children. It will also explore how outcomes can be measured in order to further support the child’s learning and assessment.

Through attending this course practitioners will have a greater understanding of how these targets and outcomes will support the graduated approach.

NO-SHOW POLICY
It is important to note that the majority of our early years courses are subject to a ‘no-show’ policy. Payments made for chargeable courses are non-refundable unless cancellation is received at least five working days prior to the start of the course. For centrally funded courses, if a delegate fails to attend, or fails to cancel at least five working days prior to the start of the course, the setting will be invoiced for a no-show charge – this charge will be £30 if the course is 3 hours or less, or £50 if the course is more than 3 hours.
By booking on to any course directly run by the Early Years Team there is an assumption that you accept the terms and conditions of the no-show policy.

Code: SGC/20/1470 Wellbeing Coaching - South Glos staff only (SJ) (EVENT FULL)

These 50 minute coaching sessions with coaches will assist council staff in coming up with strategies and action plans to maintain and build their wellbeing and resilience. Unlike counselling which provides a safe space to explore worries and concerns, these confidential coaching sessions will help staff come up with individual plans to help them build their resilience, understand what they can do to enhance their wellbeing and overcome current and future obstacles. There are activities and exercises that wellbeing coaches can also give people to work through in their own time if they would find it useful.

Please note these sessions will be delivered by skype or telephone.  Your coach will contact you to confirm the best method for you.
