Code: SGC/21/1019 FCSG: Foster carers own children

This is group ran by the FACs team to support foster carers own children. We realise that fostering can be difficult for your children and the important role they play in a fostering family.
This group is ran 4 times a year in different venues with different activities so your children can come along and met others who are part of a fostering family.
Our aim is to enable your children to talk freely and openly about their emotions regarding fostering, make new friends and have fun.
Although these will be informal meetings, each session will have a brief agenda, attendance list, and agreed group rules. This is to help those who don’t know anyone feel welcome and less awkward about coming along to a new meeting, also to feel that they won’t be left alone on the side-lines.
Sometimes there will be speakers and topics as requested by the group/children, this will hopefully make it as relevant and fun for your child/ren.

Code: SGC/22/0535 Remote working: Managing Remote Teams (SGC Managers Only)

The Learning & Development team have developed a series of bitesize virtual courses for managers and employees to deal with the practical changes to working practices as we evolve from remote working at home to the introduction of hybrid working.

This webinar is for managers who are managing remotely and also for those moving into hybrid working from spring 2022.

In this session we will focus on: the key principles of managing remote and hybrid working, the challenges, benefits, and leadership traits of a remote / hybrid manager, how to support team members, and how to best use the technology available so that you can make remote and hybrid working a success.

This interactive and engaging webinar will be facilitated by Deb Parsons and Emma Ford.

Once you have requested a place on this webinar, you will be sent an MS Teams appointment with further information.

There is no formal pre-course work. However managers are encouraged to come to the session having thought about a challenge, conundrum or situation relevant to their team’s remote / hybrid working, that they would like to explore.

We embrace diversity and want to ensure that our sessions are fully inclusive for all. Please let us know any requirements or needs you have in relation to age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation or caring responsibilities that may be relevant to your participation in the session.

Code: SGC/22/0975 Wellbeing Coaching - South Glos staff only (Debra Parsons)

These 50 minute coaching sessions with coaches will assist council staff in coming up with strategies and action plans to maintain and build their wellbeing and resilience. Unlike counselling which provides a safe space to explore worries and concerns, these confidential coaching sessions will help staff come up with individual plans to help them build their resilience, understand what they can do to enhance their wellbeing and overcome current and future obstacles. There are activities and exercises that wellbeing coaches can also give people to work through in their own time if they would find it useful.

Please note these sessions will be delivered by skype or telephone.  Your coach will contact you to confirm the best method for you.
