The package includes a remote distance learning element supplemented by a 4 hour online trainer led session.
The training is organised by South Gloucestershire Safeguarding Children Board Training Group and is targeted at all staff from all agencies who are working directly with children, or adults who are parents. Effective child protection depends not only on reliable and accepted procedures for all staff involved with children, but also on their skills, knowledge and judgement and the ability to work together co-operatively. Staff with lead roles in child protection require specialised training in order to carry out their work with abused children and families. Please note it is recommended to leave a minimum of 3 months between attending Inter Agency Child Protection and Advanced Inter Agency Child Protection.
Requirements for training:
Participants must be provided with protected time, in an environment free from all work-related duties and distractions to successfuly complete the training.
Participants require access to a camera and microphone to be able to fully engage in the session.
On the day of training, should the above requirements not be possible, participants should rebook for a different date when they are able to meet the requirements, failure to full engage in the session may result in non-issue of certificate and a request to repeat the training session.

Maintaining wellbeing in challenging times –
This webinar will cover some simple ideas you can try, the five ways of wellbeing which is promoted by the NHS and government as evidence based practices to enhance your wellbeing, happiness habits that have been proven to enhance wellbeing, the council’s wellbeing action plans that can be used to support you in your work.
This is an introduction to a small group project based around relationship mapping. Rather than leave connections to chance, relationship mapping could ensure that every child is known well by at least one adult which could make a huge difference to a child’s ability to navigate trauma and impact on their future outcomes.
This session is open to pre-schools, nurseries and childminders.
Come and help us, to help you, to develop this tool
Development Workshop Description.
Many of you who have attended the Signs of Safety Awareness Workshop have said how useful and beneficial you found it. Many have left seeing ways in which they could use the tools within their fostering homes. However a number of you have also said that you would welcome more support in being able to use this. We really welcome this feedback and want to work with you to do just this.
One of the key principles of Signs of Safety is to listen to the people who are doing the work and start from there. So with that in mind we are wanting to hold three development workshops that do just that.
Workshop 1: Placement Stability Tuesday 10th November
This workshop is about working with you to formulate the very best questions that can be used when using the three column mapping tool for placement stability. ( the questions/tool in effect could also be used to help work through any problem/issue you may be experiencing in your home, with any member)
Workshop 2: Supervision: Monday 11th January
This workshop is about working with you to formulate the very best questions that can be used between your Supervising Social Worker and yourself during supervision, when using the three column mapping tool
Workshop 3: Children Looked After Review Forms - Thursday 11th March
This workshop is about working with you to formulate the very best questions that you can use with your foster child/ young person when helping them complete their feedback forms.
This is the just first part in developing and really embedding signs of safety within the Fostering Service.
There will be more!
These 50 minute coaching sessions with coaches will assist council staff in coming up with strategies and action plans to maintain and build their wellbeing and resilience. Unlike counselling which provides a safe space to explore worries and concerns, these confidential coaching sessions will help staff come up with individual plans to help them build their resilience, understand what they can do to enhance their wellbeing and overcome current and future obstacles. There are activities and exercises that wellbeing coaches can also give people to work through in their own time if they would find it useful.
Please note these sessions will be delivered by skype or telephone. Your coach will contact you to confirm the best method for you.
Test your knowledge before you attend the training (SGC employees only)! https://adults.ccinform.co.uk/knowledge-hubs/supported-learning-tools/
This 1-day course builds on the learning and skills gained through attending the Understanding and Responding to Domestic Abuse and Coercive Control (Module 1) training, with additional content around the following areas as set out below:
