Children's services workforces may also find it helpful in terms of the particular focus on Coercive Control that this workshop covers.

Code: SGC/21/0662 International Women's Day - Presenting Yourself Confidently (South Glos Staff only)

During the week of International Women’s Day 2021 we are offering a suite of courses for female colleagues on topics that women regularly tell us they want to focus on.

This on line course will provide women with an opportunity to identify and address their own barriers to confidence, create a winning mindset to allow them to stay positive and believe in yourself and use both physical and mental techniques to control nerves. You will learn to use positive language to increase your confidence and create a positive, confident, can-do impression. The workshop will provide the opportunity to work with other women to identify any aspects of your body language which detract from your self-presentation, and make positive adjustments and be able to remain calm and confident including when you’re taken unawares.

Code: SGC/21/0669 International Women's Day: Watch, listen and discuss: Brenè Brown: The power of vulnerability TED Talk

Click here to join the meeting

Vicky will share the video link to Brené Brown’s The Power of Vulnerability TED Talk. Attendees can comment in the chat, listen, and participate in a post-video discussion about Brené’s insights.

Brené Brown studies human connection – our ability to empathize, belong, love. In a poignant, funny talk, she shares a deep insight from her research, one that sent her on a personal quest to know herself as well as to understand humanity.

The power of vulnerability: TED Talk will enable a supportive discussion and connection between attendees.

The Staff Women’s Group is leading this event in celebration of International Women’s Day. This particular initiative was chosen as Covid-19’s lockdown restrictions mean that human connection is harder and limited. On the front lines and at home, women are disproportionately impacted by Covid-19. Globally, 70 per cent of health workers and first responders are women. For women, the pandemic means unpaid care and domestic work burden has increased significantly.

The Staff Women’s Group is a supportive space. The intention of this session is to learn, share experiences, make friends, and realise you are not alone.
