Code: SGC/21/0192 Coaching Skills (EVENT FULL)

The council promotes the use of a coaching style of management, which empowers staff to take responsibility for their own performance and work. The ability of managers to coach the performance and development of their staff is therefore considered a key skill. The time invested in developing coaching skills can deliver some very positive outcomes, such as, delivering increased motivation, performance and removing barriers and blockers to progression.

Coaching skills can change the way people think about your leadership and you can inspire confidence and self-belief in your team. You have an opportunity to motivate others in a positive and inspirational way. If you aren’t a manager, you can assist and support peers through this collaborative approach to tackling issues. Ultimately it empowers people to perform more effectively and through the tools and techniques you learn on this course you will also find that you become more effective too.

This interactive day will give you a greater understanding of how you can use this simple coaching tool to improve the performance of others. You’ll have a better understanding of what makes people tick and be able to use the techniques to build better relationships with others.
The standard charge for this course is £80 per day although for council employees this course is free to attend.

Code: SGC/21/0986 Holistic Health Age 12 - 18 - Training for Foster Carers

This new course replaces the old course "Promoting Health and Emotional Resilience".  It will be split into three sessions:

  • Holistic Health Birth to Age 11
  • Holistic Health Age 12 - 18
  • Resilience Lab session for foster carers (to follow at some point in 2022 not yet on CPD site)

All three sessions will be set up separately on the CPD site.  It is anticipated that most of you will probably attend only one of the Holistic Health sessions, although if you have children that fall into both age groups then of course you are welcome to attend both.

Liz Dando and Dr Amanda Cundy will be leading the Holistic Health Sessions, which will be tailored to the needs of the age groups.  They will look at the health of the child, what a health assessment involves, what carers can do to support the child in their care, the role of school nurses, care leavers and UASC (Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children)  health.

Nikki Giles, our relationship and sexual health improvement practioner and Jani Stanoson, our young people drug and alcohol specialist, will both be joining us for this session

Code: SGC/21/1203 Wellbeing Coaching - South Glos staff only (Debra Parsons) (EVENT FULL)

These 50 minute coaching sessions with coaches will assist council staff in coming up with strategies and action plans to maintain and build their wellbeing and resilience. Unlike counselling which provides a safe space to explore worries and concerns, these confidential coaching sessions will help staff come up with individual plans to help them build their resilience, understand what they can do to enhance their wellbeing and overcome current and future obstacles. There are activities and exercises that wellbeing coaches can also give people to work through in their own time if they would find it useful.

Please note these sessions will be delivered by skype or telephone.  Your coach will contact you to confirm the best method for you.
