Code: SGC/21/1485 Raising Safeguarding Concerns - Adults (Trained Trainer - Silva Care) (EVENT FULL)

The multi-agency South Gloucestershire Safeguarding Adults Board oversees the Joint Policy and Procedures for Safeguarding Adults in this area. It is essential that a wide range of staff working in local authority, health and social care agencies are fully aware of the key issues in safeguarding vulnerable adults and of how the policy affects them in their front-line roles. The half-day Raising Safeguarding Concerns course is essential training for all front-line staff and managers who are involved in providing services to adults at risk and who work directly with service users. The course content is mapped to the learning outcomes in the local Safeguarding Adults Training Standards (published Dec 2017) as well as to relevant national occupational standards including the Care Certificate (Standard 10). Course attendance is monitored by the Safeguarding Adults Board. The standard charge for this course is £40. Please refer to our Course Charges on the Home page for information on discounts and exemptions.

Code: SGC/21/0980 Virtual School Keeping in Touch Days with Foster Carers - Early Years

Jacqui Lewis (Early Years Setting Support Officer) and Jo Hiam (Virtual School teacher) will lead this session

It will look at what the Early Years (EY) Provision actually looks like, and whether there is anything specific that you as foster carers need to be aware of.
Many of us don’t always know what is available re support or what you should expect settings to provide once accessing EY provision, and the various processes and funding the setting can receive to support the child’s development.

They would be very interested to answer any questions that you may have so if you do have any questions, could you either please email them to catherine.charlton@southglos.gov.uk or raise them at the Under 5 support group, where Sarah and Zara will be asking carers whether there are any questions that they would like answered e.g.

Examples of questions could be:

Do children looked after have PEP’s ( Pupil Education Plans)at this age?

Does the child’s social worker get involved with nurseries and preschools at all?

It is hoped that this session will run annually, so it will also be used to share any local and national updates that there may be.

The Virtual School value the time they spend with carers, and to enable this to be an even more successful partnership between school and home, would like to have more sessions available for meeting you during the course of the year. Each session will have a focus, but as ever, if there are topics we haven’t identified that you would find more helpful, please let Catherine Charlton know, by emailing: catherine.charlton@southglos.gov.uk
