This half day workshop is aimed at adult social care staff in South Gloucestershire, working in domiciliary, residential and day care services (statutory sector AND IVP sector agencies) The course includes trainer presentation, discussion, and a short multiple-choice assessment at the end to check the information has been retained by participants. Relevant handouts/paperwork will be provided by the facilitator Claire Boyd, North Bristol Trust. Please note this training is held at Southmead Hospital (Learning & Research building in the Science Quarter).

This training aims to provide attendees with a greater knowledge of human trafficking and slavery and explore the issues facing individuals who have been trafficked, how to correctly identify and spot the signs of potential exploitation and how to report suspected incidents. This course is suitable for staff who have regular contact with suppliers; contractors; the public and families (including adults and children and young people; AND/OR regular involvement in safeguarding issues; and managers who manage these services). The training will cover: • What trafficking and slavery are • Nature and scale of the issue – nationally, regionally, locally • Types of trafficking and slavery • How to recognise the signs • National and local examples of the issue • The National Referral Mechanism – what it is • South Gloucestershire Council employee responsibilities This is a 90 minute awareness session available at both KCC and BMR. This is a condensed version of the 3-hour Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery training which is available at KCC only, on a quarterly basis.

This award (formerly the Basic Food Hygiene certificate) is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH). All food handlers are required by law to receive appropriate food hygiene training. This is relevant for anyone in contact with food preparation and service, such as Catering Staff, Care/Support staff (adult social care/housing-related services), Teaching staff, Lunchtime Supervisors, Classroom Assistants and Students. This half day course is an annual refresher for individuals working in adult social care settings where they have responsibilities for moving people. This course will enable you to build on your existing knowledge and practice. Delegates will be expected to demonstrate how they move people and share knowledge through working on scenarios. This course is designed to be a refresher for anyone working in adult social care with responsibilities for moving people and attendees. Delegates from partner agencies will need to evidence that they have attended a manual handling course in the previous 18 months. Please make sure you wear suitable clothing and footwear as there is a practical aspect to this training.

A condensed version of the 2 day course - still offering the opportunity to properly explore and practice the model. Ideal for the Safeguarding Lead within a single setting, team or organisation: employees actively involved in assessments, CP Conferences, Children in Need meetings, such as Designated CP Leads in Schools, relevant operational managers or practitioners in Early Years settings, Health and the voluntary sector. Following the course those practitioners will want to think about how they then ensure others in their work-setting get a basic awareness of Signs of Safety, for example via a short internal cascade meeting for key staff etc. These 1 day workshops are provided at no charge to LSCB partner agencies. As with all LSCB run courses though, a 'no show' on the day will result in a £50 per person 'penalty' fee to the agency.

This course is aimed at SENCOs and managers who have children in their setting with more complex needs.

Using case studies, this course will explore the processes which need to be followed when requesting an Education Health Care needs assessment (EHCna).

The course will inform SENCOs about how to collate the graduated response evidence and use it to provide reports which will support an EHC needs request. It will look at the responsibilities for the setting that has a child with an Education Health Care plan in place.
