This course is designed for Care Workers and Support staff working in group care settings where service users can display challenging and difficult behaviours (care homes, day centres, supported residential accommodation). Some members of our society have a level of vulnerability and need which means that they need to be provided with care within a group care setting. This may be within a supported semi-independent living arrangement or a residential or day service. In these situations, and in response to the conditions that they live with, it is possible for some people°s behaviour to become aggressive, hostile or demanding. This course focuses on how to respond calmly and communicate effectively with people in an agitated state, to maintain the safety and dignity of both staff and the service users. The standard charge for this course is £80 per day. Please refer to our Course Charges on the Home page for information on discounts and exemptions

A condensed version of the 2 day course - still offering the opportunity to properly explore and practice the model. Ideal for the Safeguarding Lead within a single setting, team or organisation: employees actively involved in assessments, CP Conferences, Children in Need meetings, such as Designated CP Leads in Schools, relevant operational managers or practitioners in Early Years settings, Health and the voluntary sector. Following the course those practitioners will want to think about how they then ensure others in their work-setting get a basic awareness of Signs of Safety, for example via a short internal cascade meeting for key staff etc. These 1 day workshops are provided at no charge to LSCB partner agencies. As with all LSCB run courses though, a 'no show' on the day will result in a £50 per person 'penalty' fee to the agency.
