This 2-day course is ONLY for CHILDREN'S SERVICES Social Workers; those who have experience in court work, but who have not had an opportunity to undertake this training, as well as any social workers who would like to improve their confidence around court work and social work practitioners who are beginning to undertake court work. It is a 2-day course run by lawyers from the Sth Glos Legal Team together with input from social work practitioners. It aims to build awareness and confidence around Family Court proceedings. The course will encourage you to think about how to prepare good quality evidence and consider this in both written and verbal forms. It will also look at the importance of other meetings and discussions. The training will build on your understanding of legal concepts taught during the social work degree, masters and ‘Step Up’ courses and develop those concepts to look specifically at evidence and how to present it.

This award (formerly the Basic Food Hygiene certificate) is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH). All food handlers are required by law to receive appropriate food hygiene training. This is relevant for anyone in contact with food preparation and service, such as Catering Staff, Care/Support staff (adult social care/housing-related services), Teaching staff, Lunchtime Supervisors, Classroom Assistants and Students. This one day course provides adult social care staff who are responsible for moving people, with basic information and skills at an introductory level.The course is designed for anyone working in a care setting who are required to move people within their role. Please make sure you wear suitable clothing and footwear as there is a practical aspect to this training.

Managers are responsible for the management of individual and team performance. This one day training course will explain the Council's Personal Development and Performance Review process. The workshop focuses on practising the skills to carry out effective meetings, understanding objective setting and making the PDPR process meaningful for all staff. Workforce Development.

The multi-agency South Gloucestershire Safeguarding Adults Board oversees the Joint Policy and Procedures for Safeguarding Adults in this area. It is essential that a wide range of staff working in local authority, health and social care agencies are fully aware of the key issues in safeguarding vulnerable adults and of how the policy affects them in their front-line roles. The half-day Raising Safeguarding Concerns course is essential training for all front-line staff and managers who are involved in providing services to adults at risk and who work directly with service users. The course content is mapped to the learning outcomes in the local Safeguarding Adults Training Standards (published Dec 2017) as well as to relevant national occupational standards including the Care Certificate (Standard 10). Course attendance is monitored by the Safeguarding Adults Board.

This half-day course will provide an introduction to sensory differences in people with autism. Course overview: - The sensory world of people with autism and how it can affect individuals - Behaviour and sensory differences - The evidence base - Sensory strategies, support and environmental changes. Who should attend? This course is suitable for those wishing to increase their understanding of the potential sensory differences experienced by people with autism. A basic understanding of autism is required for this course. The standard charge for this course is £40.
