This one day workshop is for SGC apprentice mentors who want to develop a greater understanding of how to improve the performance of others. It’s an interactive day in which you’ll explore different communication styles, learn tools and techniques to build effective relationships, and confidence to tackle issues. As an apprentice mentor this training will help you to empower people to perform more effectively and you will also find that you become more effective too.

This one day workshop is designed to allow first-line managers of social care staff to understand what makes for effective staff supervision and to explore the key strategies and skills needed to make good supervision a reality within their own staff team/workplace. This course is relevant to all managers from social care agencies in the Statutory, Voluntary and Independent sectors within South Gloucestershire. The standard charge for this course is £80 per day. The Council promotes the use of a "Coaching style" of management, which empowers staff to take responsibility for their own performance and work. The ability of managers to coach the performance and development of their staff is therefore considered a key skill. The time invested in developing coaching skills can deliver some very positive outcomes, such as, delivering increased motivation, performance and removing barriers and blockers to progression.
