This workshop is aimed at adult social care staff in South Gloucestershire, working in domiciliary, residential and day care services (statutory sector AND IVP sector agencies)

The course includes trainer presentation, discussion, and a short multiple-choice assessment at the end to check the information has been retained by participants.

Relevant handouts/paperwork will be provided by the facilitator Alfred Puerta Casadevall and the Clinical Skills Team in North Bristol Trust.

Please note this training is held at Southmead Hospital (Learning & Research building in the Science Quarter).

This course is open to internal employees of adult social care working directly with people they support.

This training is aimed at those who may need to provide direct care or support to those with a learning disability or are autistic. This Tier 2 is a face-to-face training session which is delivered by an accredited key facilitator and two lived experienced, accredited co-facilitators, one with lived experience of a learning disability and one with a lived experience of autism.

Prior to attending Tier 2 training, delegates must complete the Tier 1 part 1 e-learning training.

A course designed by the Educational Psychology service in South Gloucestershire to help foster carers develop positive connections with children and support them to regulate difficult feelings, understand their emotions, and find moments of calm. The course will briefly touch on attachment theory but the focus will be on exploring a range of practical strategies to support children in foster care. This will include relationship building strategies as well as how to manage big emotions, rage, and conflict.
