We are offering refreshments (and biscuits) and a 15-minute (flexible) slot with one of our team to chat.

We may be able to offer bespoke table conversations that is of interest to a few of you around topics such as nightime wetting, sleep problems and continence to name a few.

We hope to have access to your childs health records and can look up information if needed at the time.

Conflict in relationships is part of everyday life, evidence suggests that conflict between parents is normal, but if exposure is frequent, intense, and poorly resolved, this can have a damaging impact on children, resulting in long-term mental health issues, emotional, behavioural, and academic problems as they grow up.

Children of all ages can be affected by destructive interparental conflict.

The Reducing Parental Conflict awareness workshop is suitable for those supporting children and their families especially those working within children’s social care, early help, health, education, and the voluntary sector.

The session will explore the crucial role that carers play as a key partner of Adult Social Care.

“The vast majority of care in the UK is provided by family and friends, who make up the UK’s carer population. Social services and the NHS rely on carers’ willingness and ability to provide care and without it they would collapse.” (Facts about Carers. Carers UK. August 2019)

We will look at key data about carers, including in relation to some of the challenges that are commonly faced. You will also benefit from the opportunity to reflect on your own experiences, personal and professional, of caring and carers, and to learn from the lived experiences of carers including a guest speaker from South Gloucestershire. The Carers’ Support Centre will share their expertise in relation to working with and supporting carers over many years. Alongside colleagues, you will explore how to apply 3Cs, strengths-based approaches and legal literacy in your engagement with carers in line with South Gloucestershire Council ‘Carer Practitioner Guidance’. A key theme throughout the day will be recognising the positive impact that you, as a practitioner, can have in promoting the rights and wellbeing of carers and as a result, the wellbeing of adult(s) they care for.

This training course provides Care Workers with the essential skills and knowledge to apply and comply with the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) 2005 when carrying out their role.

The MCA applies to every health and social care worker who is involved in the care, treatment or support of people who are unable to make all or some decisions themselves. Care Quality Commission Inspectors are increasingly asking care workers to explain their responsibilities under the MCA.

The MCA provides legal protection from liability for carrying out care and treatment of people who lack capacity to consent, provided that care workers:

• Understand the principles of the MCA
• Have carried out a capacity assessment and reasonably believe that the person lacks capacity.
• Reasonably believe the action they have taken is in the best interests of the person.

Learning Outcome
1. Understand what mental capacity is and what might affect the mental capacity of the people you work with
2. Be able to identify the decisions you are responsible for in your workplace
3. Be able to apply the MCA principles to the decisions you are responsible for
4. Be able to carry out an assessment of capacity
5. Be able to act and decide in the person’s best interests where they lack capacity for a particular decision.

This event is suitable for any professional working CYP/families where the young person is finding school attendance challenging due to their Special Educational Needs and/or emotional needs.

This training is designed to support a range of professionals to understand and respond collaboratively to Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) needs. The training will focus on early intervention approaches as well as more complex situations.

This half day workshop aims to provide an opportunity for participants to understand more about the diagnostic category of personality disorder in order to better provide services and support that can make a positive difference to people's lives.

It is aimed at all employees and managers of the Statutory, Voluntary and Independent sectors.

This is a workshop that is suitable for participants at all levels, mainly as an introduction to the issues, though it can also provide an update for staff who are already trained / more experienced in working with people with a personality disorder. It will draw upon personal experiences of receiving a personality disorder diagnosis and up to date evidence of helpful interventions and approaches.
