This course will run twice x three times a year. Autumn and Summer sessions will be face to face at the Early Years Training Room at Parkwall Primary School. The Spring sessions will be virtual via Microsoft Teams.

South Gloucestershire Council has launched a new interactive training programme that gives Health and Social Care Workers the skills, knowledge, confidence and practice to apply and comply with the Mental Capacity Act 2005. The programme is made up of interactive learning workshops. The new skills and knowledge gained from the workshops are then applied in the workplace.
The programme is designed for Care Provider managers, Social Worker and Occupational Therapy staff and managers, nurses and all other professionals working in health and social care.

The standard charge for this course is £49. Please refer to our Course Charges on the Home page for information on discounts and exemptions.

Code: SGC/23/0558 Workshop’s for Inclusivity Difference and Accessibility (WIDA)

Please note you will need to be able to attend both sessions.

The focus of WIDA is to provide greater awareness of the global needs to support individual difficulties. WIDA looks at:

  • What is disability?
  • Triangle of development and skills through sensory, emotional, and cognitive functions.
  • Empathy and collaborative support approaches for the difficulties we observe.
  • Universal approaches which look to support individuals to strengthen skills, connect through trust, and increase engagement, awareness, independence, and regulation.
The training is delivered by JIGSHAW- Thornbury (A local charity that works with all children with additional needs and disabilities)
