It is recommended that you attend the "Raising Safeguarding Concerns" course before you attend this training
Safeguarding Adults is an important part of effective practice within social and healthcare.
The role of a manager/practitioner in ensuring that staff respond appropriately to a safeguarding concern is vital. Staff need to be well informed and confident about their own responsibilities in safeguarding adults so that they respond appropriately when concerns are identified.
This 1-day course will support managers/supervisors, Social Workers/OTs and other practitioners including in healthcare to be clear about their role, how Making Safeguarding Personal impacts on it, and how to make decisions about what to do next.
The standard charge for this course is £103.50 per day. Please refer to our Course Charges on the Home page for information on discounts and exemptions.

Strengths-based practice is a collaborative process between a person supported by services and those supporting them. It allows them to work together, drawing upon a person’s strengths and assets to achieve positive outcomes.
The introduction of the Care Act 2014 with its focus on wellbeing and early intervention required local authorities to ‘consider the person’s own strengths and capabilities, and what support might be available from their wider support network or within the community to help…when considering what else, other than the provision of care and support might assist the person in meeting the outcomes they want to achieve’ (Care and Support Statutory Guidance s.6.33. Department of Health and Social Care, 2017). The recent publication of the Department of Health and Social Care work-practice-framework-and-handbook">Strengths-based approach practice framework and handbook gives support to social workers and social care professionals in applying a strengths-based approach to their work with adults.
Our family settings and situations are dynamic and complicated and supporting people in the context of their families means working with complexity. Although it is often framed that way, complexity is not by definition a negative term. Strengths and assets are part of the complex picture, too, and both are promoted in the Care Act 2014. Complexity is built into the legislation around adult social care.
This one–day online workshop will provide participants with an opportunity to develop their understanding and skills in promoting strength-based practice when working with complexity.
The workshop will use a range of methods including PowerPoint presentation, breakout room discussion, practice scenario examples, video clips, offline individual exercises and group discussion to address the learning objectives. Delegates will also be provided with all workshop materials with additional resources and references for further reading.
Designed for:
All frontline practitioners, occupational therapists, social workers and workforce development teams.
