Code: SGC/24/0494 Holistic Health and Wellbeing for Children in Care - Training for Foster Carers

Holistic Health and Wellbeing – looking at the health of our children and young people from birth to becoming a care leaver.
Not just their physical health but also their emotional and social health. Looking at the sometimes embarrassing conversations around puberty and sexual health

Liz Dando will be leading the Holistic Health Sessions, which will be tailored to the needs of the age groups.  They will look at the health of the child, what a health assessment involves, what carers can do to support the child in their care, the role of health visitors and the role of school nurses.

Code: SGC/24/0211 Foster Carers Coffee Morning (Yate)

We realise that fostering can be really difficult at times. Perhaps the only people who really understand it are other foster carers and so therefore we want to give you a place to meet up.

There will be biscuits and/or cake, coffee, tea, and an opportunity for an informal chat at all of the meetings.

Although these will be informal meetings, each session will have a brief agenda, attendance list, and agreed group rules. This is to help those who don’t know anyone and feel awkward about coming along to a new meeting, to feel that they won’t be left alone on the side-lines.

Arguments in relationships are part of everyday life, evidence suggests that arguments between parents/carers is normal, but if exposure is frequent, intense, and poorly resolved, this can have a damaging impact on children, resulting in long-term mental health issues, emotional, behavioural, and academic problems as they grow up.
