Code: SGC/19/267 Basic Drug and Alcohol Training (EVENT FULL)

The Basic Drug and alcohol awareness training is aimed anyone who thinks that an increase of awareness around the effects of substances would benefit their working life.

We will include exercises on what a drug is and their effects, drugs box information (a look at some example (fake) substances) and information about them. New Psychoactive Substances (NPS) information and the problems associated with this new trend in drug use will be discussed. Participants can take a look at paraphernalia, and trends in use locally and nationally. Alcohol and identification and brief advice and how to recognise signs and symptoms of use (both drug and alcohol), signposting and referral pathways.

Code: SGC/19/007 Managing Good Practice in Safeguarding Adults (EVENT FULL)

YOU WILL NEED TO ATTEND THE "RAISING SAFEGUARDING CONCERNS" (previously ALERTER) COURSE BEFORE YOU ATTEND THIS WORKSHOP.
 
Safeguarding Adults is a high priority aspect of the social/healthcare task. The role of a manager/practitioner in ensuring that staff respond appropriately to an ‘alert’ is vital. These staff also need to be confident about their own responsibilities in safeguarding adults, and responding appropriately to concerns about a person’s safety.
This 1-day course will assist managers/supervisors, Social Workers/OTs and other practitioners including in healthcare be clear about their role: how Making Safegaurding Personal impacts on it, how to conduct an interview, and how to make decisions about what to do next.

I found this a really positive meeting and am already enjoying this way of working. The group are really strong and were incredibly supportive to the adoptive parent who attended for the first time.
I think with a mixture of focused sessions combined general discussions this will be really positive over the school year for all.
