Managers are responsible for the management of individual and team performance. This blended course will explain the Council's Personal Development and Performance Review (PDPR)) process. The workshop focuses on understanding what is required of managers in this process, practising the skills to carry out effective and positive meetings, understanding objective setting and making the PDPR process meaningful and engaging for all staff. There is an online course which gives you more information about the expectations of you as a manager in this process.
This course is particularly useful for council managers who are new to carrying out PDPRs as it provides you an opportunity to ask questions and discuss good practice with other council colleagues.
Please take some time to review the PDPR skills for manager’s online course and read the quality standard and guidance notes ahead of the training day.
Please log onto the Enable website and visit Learning > Available Learning. The PDPR skills for managers e-learning is within the Management & Leadership section.

NEED TO HAVE ATTENDED PART 1 (Part 1 is taking place on 15.05.25)
The day looks at a child-focused approach to parenting children who may present an angry and aggressive response to those who care for them. Children can have unmet needs which they often cannot express, and this approach looks at meeting those needs whilst also supporting the parents. The focus will be on using the technique of Non-Violent Resistance which rebuilds the parent-child relationship through de-escalation, acceptance and reconciliation to allow the child’s needs to be met through the love and care of the parent or carer. The approach can be used by any parent or carer and it can also be used by staff in schools to build strong relationships with pupils.

The Purpose for the support groups
We realise that fostering can be really difficult at times. Perhaps the only people who really understand it are other foster carers and so therefore we want to give you a place to meet up.
There will be biscuits and/or cake, coffee, tea, and an opportunity for an informal chat at all of the meetings.
Although these will be informal meetings, each session will have a brief agenda, attendance list, and agreed group rules. This is to help those who don’t know anyone and feel awkward about coming along to a new meeting, to feel that they won’t be left alone on the side-lines.
Sometimes there will be speakers and topics as requested by the group, this will hopefully make it as relevant to your fostering as you like.
These sessions should be recorded on your Personal Development Plan (PDP).

This inspiring session is delivered by 'Barnardo's Lived Experience Consultancy' and is open to staff in Childrens Social Care and Preventative Services.
The young people delivering this session will be using their lived experience to inspire us to be more trauma aware. They have known each other and the staff at Barnardo's over a number of years and so fully trust one another. This session is unique.
A previous attendee shared that it was probably the best Trauma Informed (TI) training that they had attended. They also loved the way they were asked to reflect on what they would do differently in their practice, in response to the top 7 tips to work in a TI way.
They left the session feeling confident that a lot of what they did was TI, but with a greater awareness and understanding of what people suffering from trauma go through/think about the professionals working with them as well.
This training is for everyone in social care; social work assistants, social workers, personal assistants, team managers, service managers.
Hearing from people with lived experience is so powerful, as we know. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from the experts and be given the time and space to reflect on what changes you could make to your current practice to be the best TI practitioner that you can be.
