For some people who have communication and support needs this can be difficult to understand. However as equal members of society it is important not to make unnecessary exceptions as this only increases the possibility of them being more vulnerable from, and perceived more of a risk to, others. However, despite all the difficulties experienced by everyone this is an excellent opportunity to support individuals to understand social distancing to maintain their own and other people’s safety when accessing community and public settings and interacting with peers and staff in their homes.

This seminar endeavours to enable workers to consider how this can be achieved and how they can use this time to explore the wider importance of safe social interaction, maintaining personal space, physical and emotional health and well-being and consent.

There is a mixture of presentation, individual and/or group exercises and discussion, as well as time for participants to raise pertinent work issues for exploration and reflection.

Suitable for staff supporting people age 16+
