* Raise delegates’ awareness around discrimination in general. It will incorporate information on all types of discrimination, but have a major focus on disability discrimination.
* Focus on managing HR casework, including relevant recent case law that impacts on HR practice and decision-making in this area.
Learning outcomes
The course will include:
* Determining if there is a disability (in law); for example: is the condition substantial, is there an adverse effect on day to day activities; a long-term, substantial adverse effect in the future etc.
* Is there a statutory duty to make adjustments? For example, what makes a PCP relevant; is there a PCP that puts the employee at a disadvantage; what are the comparators?
* Examples of reasonable adjustments (and of what is not a reasonable adjustment).
* Considering Medical evidence.
* Complex issues; for example: obesity, mental health (non-engagement or multiple complaints/grievance), ‘complex’ PTSD, adjustments to sickness policy/triggers, adjustments to role/capacity within role.
