This course is aimed at Deputy Headteachers, subject or middle leaders who wish to develop their understanding of the EYFS in order to strengthen their knowledge and skills in undertaking monitoring of EYFS provision within their school.

The course will explore ways in which leaders can develop their understanding of the EYFS and the important role of the leadership team in developing and enhancing the quality of EYFS provision within their school. With a mixture of discussions, practical activities and reflection on practice, participants will explore the uniqueness of the EYFS through the following:

Lesson observations
Understanding performance data
Monitoring progress and standards
Making links between the school’s development plan and the EYFS
Self-evaluation and the EYFS

There will be opportunities for those attending to bring along an aspect of their work with EYFS that they would like to share with colleagues in order to problem solve.
Learning outcomes
To support staff in a leadership role to understand key ways to support their EYFS staff to develop and enhance their practice.

To support leaders to develop relevant quality monitoring tools in order to improve outcomes for children in the EYFS.
