Event description
This course will explore the importance of phonics in supporting young children’s language and communication skills and enhancing emerging reading skills through the Letters and Sounds programme.

We will explore the key features of a language rich environment and the role of the adult in supporting all children to enjoy a lifelong love of language.

“Energetic games, songs and rhymes that provide repetition are the most likely ways to keep your pre-schooler involved and excited about learning to read.”
Ways to Teach Phonics to 3 and 4 Year Olds, Pamela Harvey Bates, Demand Media

PLEASE NOTE: This course is also available as an e-learning module on the VLE.
