This one day course will provide awareness, information, advice and basic skills on visual impairment, identifying the relevant issues and how they affect and impact on peoples' lives; equipping professionals to provide appropriate support to individuals with sight loss. Learning outcomes
 Describe the term 'visual impairment'
 Explain what are the main issues for visually impaired people
 Describe how the eye works and the main causes of sight loss and visual impairment
 Explain and demonstrate how to communicate with a visually impaired person
 Demonstrate basic VI skills that will support your work with VI people
